THE DIRECTOR

After winning Best Film in Los Angeles City College Cinema Department in 2012, Enzo Williams returned to Manila and directed his first feature film, Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo, which later on became one of the most decorated films in Philippine cinema.  The film earned a total of 22 awards, including three Best Picture and two Best Director awards. Williams was also nominated for Best Screenplay at the Gawad Urian and was in competition for the New Directors category at the 2015 Seattle International Film Festival.

 

His next two films displayed his directorial range: first, with the erotic drama The Escort, which was a blockbuster hit nationwide; then with the military action film A.W.O.L., which heralded the return of the action genre to Philippine cinema.

 

Williams also directed the highly controversial "Last Christmas” ad for Rodrigo Duterte, which helped Duterte win the presidency. He also directed ads for current president Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Senate President Migz Zubiri.

 

Beginning in 2017, Williams focused on directing in the television series Ang Probinsyano for the following two years, during which the show reached record-breaking television ratings.

During his tenure, the show accomplished a few landmarks as it became both the longest running and most successful primetime series in the country’s history.

 

For his numerous achievements, the City Government of San Juan - his hometown - has honored Enzo Williams with the highly-esteemed Excellence Award, given to those with outstanding contributions in their professional field.

 

During the pandemic, Williams produced projects in partnership with the Department of National Defense and the Presidential Communications Operations Office – a rare opportunity that he continues to practice up until today.
