Bonifacio: The First President is a historical action epic that brings to light the true-to-life story of the most controversial Philippine National Hero, Andres Bonifacio. Bonifacio led a revolution to liberate the country against Spanish colonial rule in the 1800’s. He endured great personal tragedy and sacrificed his life to lead the Filipinos to freedom. The film is set in present day Manila, and the story was told through the journey of three high school students learning from a museum curator that the history they’ve been taught is incomplete at best, inaccurate at worst. Art pieces in the museum transformed into windows to the past, while the mix of time periods show how the life of a historical figure can continue to inspire and be relevant in the modern world.
